GMS Inc., a Tucker, Ga.-based distributor of wallboard and suspended ceilings systems, has agreed to buy Canadian gypsum company WSB Titan for $627 million.
Titan, based in Toronto, is Canada’s largest gypsum specialty dealer.
GMS, which went public in June of 2016, has been on an acquisition binge. It recently bought bought GSD distribution operations of Grabber Construction Products Inc. in Concord, Calif., and assets from CMH Distributing Inc. in Kearney, Neb.
Mike Callahan, President and CEO of GMS, said the Titan deal gives GMS (NYSE:GMS) a market-leading position in Canada and supports future growth in a fragmented market.
“With a strong cultural fit and shared focus, we are confident this combination will be beneficial to both companies,” he said in a statement.
Callahan will continue to serve as president and CEO of the combined company, which will remain headquartered in Tucker. Doug Skrepnek, CEO of Titan, will become president of GMS Canada, reporting to Callahan.
